Contactless Temperature Sensing

Transformer Health Monitor is based on Multi Nano Sense Technologies Private Limited’s patented Solid State Electrochemical Sensor Technology with Solid Electrolyte and Novel Reference Electrode. It directly measures partial pressure of Hydrogen, by diffusion, in a gas mixture making it specific, selective, and intelligent to Hydrogen alone. This analyser can work in multiple gas backgrounds including Air, Inert and Combustible Gases. This sensor can be deployed to analyse the concentration and rate of outgassing of Hydrogen from the transformer oil in case of occurrence of any incipient fault. All kinds of transformer faults cause chemical changes in the oil, which generates differing levels of Hydrogen, based on the nature of fault. Almost ~92% of the Hydrogen is not soluble in oil and can be analyzed in Gas Phase through strategic placement of a Hydrogen analyzer. This is a simple and affordable solution for first line of defense against violent transformer explosions and early diagnosis of faults for remedial action at initial damage stage. The sensor design is as per intrinsic safety method of protection (not capable of causing a spark which can cause an explosion in hazardous area) and uses a powder coated Aluminium enclosure, weighing less than 350 grams, 4-5X lighter and smaller than commercially available sensors for hazardous area installations.

Technical Specification

The product is under certification process for IECEx, ATEX, UL, CSA, and PESO as per region specific standards equivalent to IEC 60079-0, IEC 60079-11, IEC 60079-29-1 and IEC 61010. The sensor must be powered through a certified Zener Barrier with matching parameters. The certified product shall be suitable for installation in Zone 0 and Class I Division I hazardous areas for Gas Group IIC, with “ia” method of protection, which provides for safe operation even with 2 countable faults.
